Privacy Policy

The short version

MagicCB has no user accounts and no resume database. Your resume data is stored in your own browser and, if you enable folder backup, in a folder on your own device. We do not collect, sell, or store your resume content on our servers.

What stays on your device

Resumes, settings, chat history with the AI assistant, and any AI API keys you enter are saved in your browser's local storage. Clearing your browser data removes them. The optional backup feature writes resume files to a local folder you choose.

What leaves your device, and when

AI features: when you use the AI assistant, polish, grammar check, or PDF import, the relevant resume content is sent to the AI provider (such as OpenAI or Google) to generate the response. This happens only when you actively use an AI feature. Our server relays the request and does not keep a copy.

PDF export: when you export a PDF, the rendered resume is sent to our PDF generation service, which returns the file and does not retain it.

Fonts: pages load fonts from Google Fonts, which involves standard web requests to Google's servers.

AI providers

If you configure your own AI API key, requests go to that provider under your own agreement with them. If you use the built-in default, requests are relayed through our server to the provider. In both cases, the provider's own privacy terms apply to the content of those requests.

Cookies

MagicCB uses one cookie to remember your language choice. There are no advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

Your control

You can export your resumes as PDF, JSON, or Markdown at any time, and delete everything by removing resumes in the app or clearing your browser storage. Because we hold no copy, there is nothing for us to delete on your behalf.
